To go with the kitchen theme, I made bowl covers as gifts and I LOVE them. I’m not going to write up a tutorial on how I did this because this tutorial that I found was excellent. I made bowl covers for myself before and they turned out pretty horrid comparatively. They work, but alas… these are so much prettier. It doesn’t hurt that I used my good Pul for them.
The only thing I did different from the tutorial I linked is use Pul fabric seeing it’s somewhat water proof and easy to wipe down. It won’t save you if you tip over the bowl of soup, but if some soup splashes the top then it won’t soak through. I used Pul for my current less attractive bowl covers and it works pretty well. I throw them in the wash with my kitchen wet bag and unpaper towels, but often I just hand wash them with the dishes or wipe them down. These are super convenient to use- I hate trying to get plastic wrap to stay on and these just snug over the tops of my bowls. It’s wonderful.
Oh and it was great because I was able to use the big pieces of Pul that I have that aren’t quite big enough for a diaper for the smaller covers.
These bowl covers aren’t all finished in the pictures because I hadn’t added my elastic to the flat ones… that’s what they look like before. You can see the top elephant print one has had elastic added, and then you can see what they look like on the bowls as well. I didn’t have enough elastic that was the right width so I had to wait on some to come in. I order my elastic by the yard via diaper supply websites because I find that it’s cheaper that way than going into the store (it’s generally just cheaper if I don’t go into the craft store, haha).
