10 Projects to Make with the Cricut Maker
DIY Balloon Covers
These easy balloon covers were even easier to make when my Cricut cut the fabric for me. I got to finally try out the rotary blade on the Maker™ and BOY am I impressed. It’s a great tool for cutting out small details on small projects.
If you sew a lot, you know that knit fabric can be difficult to cut, particularly when you’re working with small pieces. The edges curl which makes it difficult to get the cuts just the right size.
With the Maker, the knit is adhered to the fabric mat, preventing curling, so you get the EXACT right size for your project.

Kitchen Organizer Labels

Personalized Christmas Sacks

Quick tote bags. Aren’t the results stunning?
The DIY Horse Themed Tote Bag uses regular iron-on vinyl. The DIY Hair Stylist Bag uses patterned iron on.

Patterned Iron-On Vinyl Shirts
It’s fun to experiment with different types of iron-on vinyl. Foil iron on looks great in person, but photographs don’t do it justice.
Everyday Iron On is perfect for most uses and easy to work with.
But the patterned iron on is FUN… these two shirts, “Yeti for a Snow Day” and this Valentine’s shirt both incorporated the patterned vinyl.

Customize Cricut Access Designs for Unique Apparel
One of the most helpful skills to learn is how to use Cricut Access files as a starting point, then tweak them to create custom designs. It’s fun to see how far an original design can be adjusted to make something unique.
Learn to use the following tools—Contour, Slice, and Weld—and it becomes much easier to create a wide variety of projects in Design Space.
The Yeti shirt was a great example of how useful Contour can be. The design could be adjusted and customized to fit the exact project needs.
Slice and Weld were especially helpful for the Valentine’s truck shirt.
The Father’s Day shirt was made by combining a few designs that worked well together—nothing too complicated, just a simple layout with elements that looked great as a set.
When you’re starting out with your Cricut and trying to learn everything, make sure you take it one project at a time. But diversify- try different types of vinyl, different types of projects, and don’t get intimidated.
