Learn How To Sew A Yoga Bolster Pillow

I’ve been wanting to purchase a yoga bolster pillow so I could imitate some relaxing poses I learned in yoga class at home. But eh… expensive. 

Wash, iron, and cut your fabric pieces.

STEP 1

Start by folding the straps in half, right sides together. Sew the long side and turn right sides out. Iron. Stitch the long sides for your straps. The short pieces will be used later.

Sew long pieces together along the long edge. Alternate between the 26×7 and the 26×13. You will have one big piece of fabric. I used a serger, but you can use a sewing machine.

STEP 4

Now you’ll take the two ends of the long piece of fabric and face them right sides together. Sew them together and this will be the main portion of your yoga bolster.

Next up, pin your straps inside the tube of fabric, one for each side. Once you’ve got it pinned all the way around, completely sew one side closed. Be sure not to hit the pins! 

STEP 5

Now you need to sew up the final side. Same deal with pinning, but you need to leave an opening to turn it right sides out (and fill).

STEP 6

Turn the fabric right sides out and fill the yoga bolster with scrap fabric. Stuff it completely full, so it's nice and firm. Hand sew the opening.

STEP 7

There you have it! A customized yoga bolster that doesn't look like every other one on the market. And I was able to use up some scrap clothes. It's a win-win!
