If you drank too much wine at that painting party and ended up with a wonky picture, this is the perfect project for you. Convert your painting into a beautiful DIY photo canvas.
I LOVE those paint parties where you drink wine and make poorly informed decisions about where to paint what… I just don’t always love the end results. I’ve had two canvases from paint parties gone bad hidden behind some furniture in the office and I was torn- should I toss them? Or could I repurpose them? I took one and created this fabulous DIY photo canvas- and I LOVE it. Glad I didn’t toss it.
But check this beast out… haha… yikes.I had a LOT of wine that night.
Supplies listed below may include affiliate links to the products.
- Mod podge
- Spray paint
Once sanded, I painted the canvas. I used black acrylic paint. For my second canvas (not pictured because I’m doing something else with it), I used spray paint which was much faster and easier so I suggest going that route.
Ignore the weird swirls… my initial attempt here was to do something with glue that I saw on Pinterest (fail). I probably should’ve sanded it again.
Next I added a thin layer of mod podge. Then I placed my photo on the it and press down to clear out any bubbles.
Once dry, I added another layer of mod podge over this.
Here’s the comparison between before and after… sooooo much better!
