Baby G loves those nice concrete steps down to our basement… Nothing like practicing your walking/climbing skills on 9 steep concrete steps. Daddy B took an old pressure mounted gate and squeezed a few boards on each side (screwing the boards together) so it would work for these stairs. It’s not perfect and I’m sure too much force would knock it over, but it is enough to keep Baby G at bay until we can run over, and it’s enough to hopefully discourage him so he can find something else to do in the yard. I’m pretty sure there’s something else dangerous he can get into… Haha.
The nice thing is that it isn’t screwed into the house at any place… The pressure mounted gate is holding everything in place. He put it at as away from the step itself as possible so if Baby G DOES happen to knock it over, he shouldn’t go rolling down the stairs in the process. But I tested it a bit (and so did Baby G as he threw a temper tantrum when he discovered it was now baby proofed) and it seems like it’s holding- he expanded the gate as much as humanly possible to get it super tight.
